Date: 1725-1783

Title: A Branch of Gooseberries with a Dragonfly, an Orange-Tip Butterfly, and a Caterpillar

Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706-1783) was a German artist known for her exquisite botanical illustrations and embroidery work. She was born in Nuremberg, Germany, into a family of artists and craftspeople, and received her training in drawing and embroidery from her father, Johann Christoph Dietzsch.

Dietzsch's artistic skills were remarkable, and she quickly gained recognition for her work. She specialized in the illustration of botanical specimens, creating intricate and accurate depictions of flowers, plants, and insects. Her illustrations were in high demand, and she produced commissioned works for prominent figures such as the King of Poland and the Prince-Bishop of Bamberg.

In addition to her botanical illustrations, Dietzsch was also renowned for her embroidery work. She created elaborate, ornate designs for clothing, tablecloths, and other household items, incorporating elements of nature and traditional German motifs.

Dietzsch's work was admired not only for its beauty but also for its scientific accuracy. She was a member of the Nuremberg Natural History Society and collaborated with prominent botanists and naturalists of her time.

Despite her success, Dietzsch's work was largely forgotten in the centuries following her death. It was not until the 20th century that her art was rediscovered and recognized for its significance in the history of botanical illustration and embroidery. Today, her works are held in collections at museums and galleries throughout Germany, and she is considered one of the most important female artists of the 18th century.

Your artwork will replicate authentic paintings found in museums; using the same ink, paper and printing methods they do.

Our archival Giclée prints are loved for their vibrant colour range and the handmade feel of their beautifully textured papers. Each piece of Heritage Art is printed on 312gsm fine art media. The print you will receive is made from 100% cotton pulp, guaranteed to last hundreds of years without fading or discolouration.

Our pigment ink has longevity rates of over 100 years. We use eight different ink colours profiled to match the archival paper to achieve a perfectly colour accurate reproduction of the original art piece.

Our board mounted prints are the traditional way of displaying your artwork and provide added protection from warping in the frame over time. Board mounted prints can also be displayed without a frame.

The process of archival art mounting involves fixing your artwork to an acid-free substrate. This enables your print to sit flat, either directly onto a wall or in a frame. Made from 100% virgin fibre, with a 2mm thickness, board mounted prints are an exceptionally light and cost-effective mount for creating a beautiful flat print prior to framing.

Unmounted prints are printed onto the same exceptional fine art paper and will require framing.

Digital downloads will be emailed to you within 36 hours. You will be sent a personal dropbox link to your ready-to-print file.
